This sound is not found in the English alphabet.
This is one of the difficult sounds in English as it is a very short sound
and the lips barely move. If you begin with the [^] sound and then shorten the
sound it will sound like [
]. It is heard most frequently in the definite article ‘the’
[
] before consonant sounds:
the time, [ taim] , the bus [ b^s] etc. The
indefinite article ‘a’ is also pronounced [
] before consonant sounds: a cat, a door, a dog, etc. The
unstressed sound in English words is usually pronounced with this sound. The
unstressed [ ] can be initial, medial or final.
