The ‘ache’ sound

In this week you study physical problems some of which end in the sound –ache which is pronounced [ e l k ].

sore [sr ] vs ache [elk]

When a part of our body is inflamed or hurts we say it is ‘sore’ [sor]. When we pronounce the ‘r’ we must bend our tongue towards the back of the mouth and vibrate the vocal chords.
