Last night, after having sat through nearly three hours of
torture at the Hohum Cultural Society’s “production” of Verdi’s “Aida”, I
decided to have a few stiff whiskeys at “Tom’s Irish Pub” to recover.
I cannot find words to describe what I have felt as a cruel
joke on the citizens of Hohum. It is obvious that this group has never had
any experience in producing an opera.
The “singers” should have tried out their
“talents” on people with good hearing before the performance rather than
make the public suffer… As for the “orchestra”, their
performance is below comment.
In the future I recommend they put on an
operatic performance of “Mickey Mouse and Minnie”.
The two leading singers in “Aïda” sounded
just like them.
