A-1. Final –s sounds following the phonemes[ f ], [ k ], [ p ], [ t ] and [ ]also remain voiceless before consonant sounds.


EXAMPLE:

Pat’s dad is a taxi driver.

voiceless [ t ] ‘Pat ‘

Jack likes playing soccer.

[ k ] etc.

The photographs have less color.

[ f ]

The kid stops playing when he’s tired.

[ p ]

The bath’s full of hot water.

[ ]

 


B- 1. Final –s sounds following ALL other phonemes remain voiced when followed by consonant sounds.

EXAMPLE:

Tim’s mother is an athlete.

Her baby cries when he’s alone.
